Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Epson PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition Photo PrinterCustomer Review: low scorers may not be using maintenance features Summary: 5 StarsTHis is an excellent printer. If pics come out fuzzy or with lines, you have to go through the maintenance features...clean the printer heads, etc.
Customer Review: great product but is it worth the price? Summary: 5 Stars: PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition takes the personal photo lab one step further, making it even easier to view, edit and print glossy 4" x 6" photos. It measure 6 by 10 by 6 inches (HWD), weighs 5.5 pounds, and has a handle. The Deluxe Viewer Edition also has a battery option. Setup is just as easy as with the original. Simply slide the single six-color ink cartridge--with cyan, yellow, magenta, black, red, and blue inks--into the slot in the back, load the photo paper, connect the power cord, and you're ready to print from a camera, external CD or ZIP drive, a USB memory key, or any type of memory card, although you'll need an adapter for miniSD cards and some Memory Stick formats. To print from your computer, the only additional steps are to connect by USB cable and run the automated install program. You can also add Epson's optional Bluetooth adapter for wireless printing.
It takes about 1 minute 19 seconds to 1:45 for each photo, whether printed from a computer, memory card, or camera.
It uses ink and paper, which means the photos for the Deluxe Viewer Edition are also waterproof and smear-proof even immediately after printing, and they cost only 29 cents per print. Now this is the kicker, it is cheaper to print them at Sam's Club for 12 cents per print, so I only purchased this because I can take it to scrap meets and print what I need when I need it. My other photos I send to Sam's Club or even Wal-Mart for nearly the same price of 12 cents. This is more of a convince thing for me. I purchased this mode for only 24.99 at Target where it normally retailed for 199.00 but it was on super clearance. This is what you have to weigh in on, convince for the price or what your pocket book can handle. It has come in handy for me at times and the prints come out nicely so it is a tossup for people on a budget!
Customer Review: Epson Does It Again Summary: 4 StarsOnce again, Epson has developed a fine product. This very User-friendly photo printer has a plethora of capabilities to ensure the print meets the expectations of the User. It is compact, of course, and its excellent portability makes it a "Must-Have" for the enthusiast who wants to produce prints for friends within minutes of the takes at any venue. Super item at a reasonable price.
Customer Review: Great photo printer! Summary: 5 StarsI was looking for a small photo printer for my parents for Christmas. I did my research and read the reviews, and bought this printer for them. Then, I liked the printer so much that I bought one for myself. No need to say more except to say that I agree with most of the 5 start ratings comments I've read. I use it more than my large photo inkjet printer, simply because when I just want to quickly print great looking 4x6in. waterproof and fade-proof pictures, this printer is so easy and convenient to use.
Customer Review: Best Portable Photo Printer Ever Made! Summary: 5 StarsThe discontinued Epson PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition Photo Printer is by far the finest consumer portable photo printer ever made (as of the this writing Thursday, July 12, 2007). Using a complex pigment 6-ink system these amazing prints are long-lasting, fade, water, and smudge proof! The 4x6 prints come out perfectly borderless and with amazing color after pushing a couple of buttons. Compared to the HP line, the Epson prints are simply superior, especially dark colors and overall contrast. If you use a digital camera 3 megapixels or higher, these prints easily rival developed photographs from film. I do give the HP line a better score for overall build and engineering, with features such as a metal carrying handle. I give this product 5 stars due to its overall output quality. Sifting through a folder of 500 prints is slow, and the unit might not recognize your memory card if its too big. Working around the slow user interface, the unit quickly becomes a friendly and powerful printing tool. Epson's latest offerings (Snap) should be avoided since they are inferior to this discontinued product which can still be found at a great price. I recommend finding this older one and buying up the older ink kits and accessories such as the battery and carrying case. With any luck Epson will go back to where they once were, and release a version of this unit that can also print 5x7's.
